Warm and light colors, wood – the house was destined for living a happy life and receiving guests. As intended, the interior of this Cyprus house is comfortable, cozy, and safe – the family has one active child and expects another. For this reason, all furniture and materials were carefully selected.
We designed the ground floor with a total area of 72 sq.m., where the family spends most of the time – a living room, kitchen, and dining room. The developer handed out the house on a turnkey basis. Thus, we had to put up with some finishing materials such as porcelain tiles on the floor, marble on the stairs, limited choice of doors and kitchen facades, etc. Still, we managed to find the best solution.
The family owns a restaurant business, with the head of the family being the chef. Obviously, we paid special attention to the kitchen. It is functional and spacious – two people can be there at the same time, without disturbing one another. We hung kitchen cabinets to the ceiling on one wall, which allowed us not to worry about the absence of the upper cabinets. The kitchen island is the centerpiece, where all the magic happens – guests can observe the cooking process while sitting at the bar counter and chatting.
We had the challenge to design a space as open and breathing as possible, with sitting and dining areas and kitchen. The overall concept was clear from the beginning; we only had to elaborate on it and find a place for an entry room. A small built-in closet for keeping shoes and outdoor clothes became a natural extension of the column between the kitchen and stairs.
