Let There Be Color!

This house is located in the area close to Limassol, Cyprus. It was designed for a married couple with a cat and a dog. First, they wanted to have bright and calming interior; but seeing the first batches of such decor made them frustrated. So, we decided to add colors – intense dark tones, interesting accents, and details – to give the space a new look. Creative ideas hit the spot in the clients’ hearts.

Pleasing Everyone

There is usually no entrance hall in Cyprus houses. Walking in, you immediately find yourself in the spacious living room, which is also both kitchen and dining room. Additionally, it has a separate area dedicated for hobbies of the lady of the house - she fancies photography and DJing. The primary color of the living room is deep gray, complemented with bright accent blue paint on the walls of the dining area. The blue color expanded the space, making it deeper and more enjoyable. The same color was used for the lower facades of the kitchen. There is a lot of wood and natural materials used in the house interior. For instance, the large dining table made of the slab, the long table in the working area of the living room made of the same slab. Copper and brass decorative elements and accessories add style and glam up the interior.

One of my favorite accents is mosaic on the kitchen island. Different shades of metal – glazed, brushed, and matted – gleam charmingly in harmony with other metal elements of the interior, such as pendant lights over tables. There are brass pieces in the living room as well – a stunning floor lamp and coffee tables. We chose the delicate dusty pink color of textile for window curtains and sofa cushions covers. The same color is used in the upholstery of a few chairs in the dining area. Pride of place in the living room goes to the built-in functional fireplace – which the house owners kindle in winter – with the niche for firewood beside it. Even though a fireplace refers to classic interiors, this one perfectly fits in a modern design.

On The Wave

The wall behind the headboard sets the mood of the entire room, an atmosphere of freshness and sea. It is painted in fabulous turquoise, a tone we have been looking for a very long time. We decorated the wall with a bizarrely shaped branch that house owners found on a nearby beach. To support the overall theme of naturalness, we placed tree stump stools instead of bedside tables.

Natural beige of textile curtains goes well with the turquoise wall – the secret is barely visible turquoise threads in the fabric. The magnificent natural wood dressing table was brought from England; as to the antique chair, the house owners literally picked it up from the trash – they loved it so much that they renovated and newly upholstered it to be a perfect fit for the interior.

Pink Roses

The bedroom is decorated in neutral and calming colors – almost white, beige-gray walls, gray facades of the closet. However, the overall mood of the room is easily changeable with the help of textile. The centerpiece is slightly shining grass-colored curtains. The same color is used in the carpet pattern and the bedcover. Change these elements, and the room looks different.

A Minute’s Rest

There should be a place to rest, even in the least fun working environment. For this reason, we decorated the wall opposite the desk with tropical wallpaper to rest the eyes from work. After all, looking at the green color is good for eyesight and state of mind. Besides the desk and cabinets, we assigned a little space for reading or pondering rather than just sitting in front of a laptop all the time.

A Little More Turquois

The accent decor elements of the bathroom are spectacular turquoise cement tiles made as patchwork on the floor as well as on the wall behind the bathtub.

Tree of Life

Designing this interior, we were limited by the materials sold in Cyprus. That is why white subway tile is used in both the shower room and bathroom. The accent element of the shower room is the shower area itself – we used porcelain stoneware tiles with a wooden print to support the overall theme of natural shades and materials in the interior. We embellished it with the towel rack in the shape of wooden stairs.

The Bluest

Another dark blue accent is painted walls of the hallway that connects rooms in a private area. White doors, baseboards, and decor elements highlight the color depth.

Дом, семья, работа

House area – 130 sq.m. It has private and public areas. The public area includes a spacious kitchen/dining room/living room with a functioning fireplace. The private area has a master bedroom (with shower room), bathroom, study, and guest room for visiting friends and family.
